About the Attorney

Alyssa believes in due process and the presumption of innocence.

She does defense work because she is passionate about leveraging her skills to help others through difficult times and keep our Constitutional guarantees alive. The combination of fulfillment and challenge keeps her driven.

Alyssa has been admitted to practice law in California since 2013. She received her Juris Doctor from Santa Clara University School of Law in 2013. She received her Bachelor of Arts, Magna Cum Laude, from Santa Clara University in 2009, majoring in Communication and minoring in Spanish. She is a non-native Spanish speaker who has been studying the language for over twenty years.

Her expert trial advocacy has impressed judges, jurors, and colleagues.

Her wins in court derive from intense study of the case, methodical organization of the materials, and persuasive communication. She takes a comprehensive approach to her cases: learning about the client, studying the evidence, engaging in independent investigation, considering the legal landscape, and weighing which route leads to the best outcome. She is comfortable holding the criminal legal system accountable so that defendants can exercise their rights fully and without prejudice.

Prior to being in private practice, she worked for Biggam, Christensen, & Minsloff (a private firm acting as the public defender agency for Santa Cruz County), and at the Santa Clara County Public Defender’s office.

Alyssa contributes to the legal community as guest faculty in the Trial Advocacy Program at Stanford University’s School of Law, and has given educational lectures to fellow lawyers at state and local levels.

Alyssa loves being with her family, sewing, eating great food, being outdoors, and learning about other cultures and points of view.
